Product Design Intern

Worked as a product design intern in the Baby Gear Department at Fisher-Price. Helped members of my team with future projects for the company and proposed personal ideas and concepts for new possible products. Participated in team meetings, shadowed concept presentations, and attending company events.

2021

Project 1

  • Supported the design and ideation of a new sleep system for parents. The sleep system was a configurable design that allows parents to create and order a bassinet they need for their child.

  • Researched the sleep category, online and in person.

  • Deliverables included: design sketches, 3D models, and renders.

  • Helped sell in the design, through presentation assets and visuals.

  • Specific project details are not open to the public due to possible production.

Project 2

  • Designed concepts around insights gained from Baby Gear sleep ethnographic focused on baby to toddler grow-with-me sleep.

  • Researched the grow-with-me sleep category, online and in person.

  • Deliverables include: design sketches, 3D models, and renders.

  • Helped sell in the design, through presentation assets and visuals.

Project 3

  • Designed concepts around insights gained from Baby Gear sleep ethnographic focused on Toddler Beds.

  • Researched the transition of maturity and freedom in the toddler phase, as well as parent reassurance.

  • Deliverables include: design sketches, 3D models, and renders.

    Helped sell in the design, through presentation assets and visuals.

Intern Group Project

  • Design lead for the intern group project: Pillow Passport.

  • Worked with other interns form different backgrounds and positions and was able to communicate clearly and lead the design ideation for the final product.

  • Researched the identified category, online and in person.

  • Deliverables included: design sketches, 3D models, renders, and a sustainability plan.

  • Helped sell in the design, through presentation assets and visuals to a panel of judges.

Overall Experience

  • Learned a lot about real-world design and manufacturing process.

  • Research is KEY in the design world.

  • There might be more than one consumer for a specific product, you just need to understand its function and the users’ wants and needs.

  • Sharpened design sketching and 3D modeling skills.

  • Not knowing everything is not bad at all, instead it is an opportunity for me to grow. Be a learn it all.
